In contrast, Parti colored Miniature Schnauzers are unique and have a rich history of the classic underdog story that most gravitate to. In a similar manner, the Parti color structure in no way diminishes its value as a family member. The attitude and dominance that allows it to thrive in a competition is sometimes not ideal as a pet for a 5 year old child. Dog owners have become increasingly aware that Champion show dogs are bred to win in a showring not necessarily thrive in a home setting. Our opinion here at Fernweh Schnauzers, as Miniature Schnauzer breeeders, seemingly represents a large portion of the country that has grown tired of quantifying a dog’s value based on manmade rules of the AKC and sister registrations acrossed the world. Currently, the AKC recognizes the Parti color as undoubtedly purebred but continues to disqualify the color from the showring. This separation from the Parti color (and many other “in between colors” within the Schnauzer breed) has been passed along from the PSK to other sister organizations such as the AKC in the U.S. Klub members were encouraged to destroy their Parti Schnauzer by whatever means that they were comfortable with. However, as time passed the the Parti color fell out of favor to such a degree that by the time of the Third Reich in 1933, the Pinscher-Schnauzer Klub outlawed all current and future Parti colored Schnauzer from their registry as undesirable. The then written breed standard clearly allowed for a “white and black” colored Miniature Schnauzer as an acceptable color structure.
